  • = a chord, consisting of multiple intervals from root → perfect fifth
  • → multiple possible root notes
• Augmented
  • = a chord, consisting of multiple possible intervals from root → major third
  • → multiple possible root notes
• Diminished
  • = a chord, consisting of two instances of the minor third

Examples §

• when removing the root/fifth note from a chord, people will still hear the chord
