Movie Background Story: Before the second world war, a Japanese woman met a German man when she went to Germany. They felt like they were soulmates. Mutual understanding, attraction and love. Together, they had the time of their lives. However, because she had to leave for Japan, they had to go separate ways again. They stayed in contact via post. However, due to the rise of facism, propaganda slowly but steadily intruded their minds, altering their thoughts, opinions and plans until they became unrecognizable to each other. The story goes to show how destructive propaganda is. Furthermore, it highlights how little individuals can change in the grand scheme of things and that in the end the machinery of the world takes its course, flattening everything in its path (even true love).
