• Argument: enclosed by quotation marks
  • e.g. ""7""
• Nominatum: enclosed by square brackets
  • = that, which is designated by the propositional function
  • e.g. “[7] is an odd number”
• Sense: the sense of the sign
  • = that, which the intensional objects, which a sign evokes, have in common
  • e.g. “<7>” or “<VII>”
